(KNZA)--The Jackson County Commission has adopted its 2027 budget, with a slightly lower tax rate than originally proposed.

Commissioners voted unanimously September 14th to approve the budget after a hearing drew no public comment.

The county will use a tax rate of about 71-point-6 mills, down from the 72 mills originally proposed.

The rate is still higher than this year's levy, and is expected to generate nearly 12-million dollars in property taxes — about 542-thousand dollars more than this year.
