In a release, Kansas Insurance Commissioner Vicki Schmidt says 48-year-old Jennifer Walker pleaded guilty July 29 in Leavenworth County District Court to one felony count of attempted insurance fraud.
Investigators say Walker purchased a new auto insurance policy after a collision, then reported a false date of loss in an attempt to obtain coverage for damage that occurred before the policy took effect.
Walker was sentenced September 9 to 12 months of probation.
Schmidt says insurance fraud increases costs for Kansas families and businesses and that the department will continue holding offenders accountable.
The Kansas Department of Insurance investigated the case. It was prosecuted by the Kansas Attorney General’s Office.
