(KNZA)--Jackson County has hired a new road and bridge director.

The Holton Recorder reports the County Commission Monday approved an employment agreement with Randy Pool. He’ll be paid a salary of about 36-thousand dollars.

Pool previously served as the county’s road and bridge administrator, first as acting administrator in 2007, then becoming the permanent administrator in March 2008.

He remained in that position until the commission terminated his employment in June 2013.

Pool had also previously worked for the county as a motor grader operator and road foreman.

He replaces Joe Gardner, who resigned as road and bridge superintendent effective September fifth.
