(KLZA)--Following a review of possible changes to the proposed 2026-27 Fiscal Year budget, Richardson County Commissioners adopted the budget and approved the property tax levy for the next year when they met Wednesday.

The total budget of expenditures was reduced from the original proposal of $22,424,406 to $21,814,989, a decrease of  $609,417.

The Board approved reductions will reduce the property tax requirement by that same amount which will now be $7,674,663.  Prior to the cuts to the budget, the proposed property tax requirement had been $8,284,080..

The property tax levy will be 35.5206 cent per $100 of assessed valuation for the next fiscal year which is a 19% increase from 2025.  Last years levy was 30.0327 cents per $100 of assessed valuation.
