(KNZA)--Highland Community College reports a 12.3 percent increase in student enrollment this fall.
According to preliminary enrollment figures released Wednesday by the Kansas Board of Regents, Highland is serving 2,579 students, up 282 from the same point last year. The figures reflect enrollment on the twentieth day of the semester.
Highland President Doctor Vincent Bowhay credits the college’s faculty, staff and academic programs, along with the trust students and families place in Highland.
The increase comes as the college invests in workforce programs, opportunities for high school students to earn college credit, online learning and student support services.
Highland also recently received a federal grant providing approximately 1.6 million dollars in first year funding. With anticipated continuation funding, the five year initiative is expected to bring about three million dollars to support student success and strengthen services for rural students.
Highland serves students through its main campus, regional locations, online programs and partnerships throughout Northeast Kansas.
