(KMZA)--The Nemaha County Commission has finalized its 2027 budget, with the county’s tax rate coming in slightly below the revenue-neutral rate.
Commissioners approved the budget at their September 28th meeting, setting the total mill levy at 39-point-713 mills.
That’s below the county’s revenue-neutral rate of 39-point-721 mills.
The budget also includes a 675-thousand-dollar reserve.
The commission had previously proposed a tax rate of about 51-point-3 mills, nearly 12 mills above the revenue-neutral rate.
Following public hearings in August and additional budget reviews in September, commissioners made cuts to the Road and Bridge and General Fund budgets.
The final budget was approved unanimously.
