(KAIR)--Major paving work was beginning Wednesday morning across Atchison, with large scale operations planned over the next two weeks.

According to a release from the City of Atchison, contractor Herzog is completing the city’s 2026 mill and overlay work. Crowell and Green streets are the first two streets scheduled for paving.

Residents along streets scheduled for work should receive door hangers and other notices asking them to move parked vehicles before paving begins.

City officials say keeping vehicles off those streets will allow crews to complete the work as quickly as possible.

The Herzog project is not the only paving underway. City street crews and other contractors are continuing smaller projects throughout Atchison.
