(KNZA)--A Holton man arrested following an hours-long standoff in May has been found competent to stand trial.

A Jackson County judge made the determination during a hearing Tuesday, based on an evaluation by Kanza Mental Health.

Thirty-six-year-old Joshua Jefferson’s preliminary hearing is now set for November 12th.

Jefferson was arrested May 20th after a standoff that began during an animal cruelty investigation.

He faces multiple charges, including aggravated assault, criminal threat, two counts of interference with law enforcement, battery and animal cruelty.

Jefferson remains free on a 10-thousand-dollar bond.
