New Police Chief on the job for Kickapoo Tribe in KS

(KAIR)--The Kickapoo Tribe in Kansas has named Shawn Walker as its new chief of police.

The appointment brings Walker back to the department where he began his law enforcement career as a patrol officer in 1996.

Walker brings 30 years of experience, having served in positions ranging from patrol officer to police chief. He also served as deputy academy director for the Bureau of Indian Affairs United States Indian Police Academy.

Walker is a retired member of the Kansas Army National Guard who served two tours in Iraq and one in Bosnia. His international experience also includes contract work in Afghanistan and providing law enforcement training in Honduras.

Walker holds a Master of Business Administration and is pursuing a doctorate in education.

The tribe, in a release, welcomed Walker back to the Kickapoo community and wished him success in his new role.
