Manslaughter conviction follows LV motorcycle death

(KAIR)--A Leavenworth man has been convicted of involuntary manslaughter in connection with a 2023 crash that killed a motorcyclist.

According to a release from the office of Leavenworth County Attorney Todd Thompson, 39-year-old Tyler Johnson pleaded guilty Tuesday. The court accepted the plea and found him guilty.

Court documents say Leavenworth police responded October 23, 2023, to a collision near 150 Muncie Road, near the Leavenworth National Cemetery.

Investigators determined Johnson attempted to pass another vehicle in a no-passing zone and collided with an oncoming motorcycle. The motorcyclist died from injuries suffered in the crash.

Johnson is scheduled to be sentenced on the afternoon of November 13 in Leavenworth County District Court.
