(KAIR)--Emergency vehicles and first responders will gather at several Atchison locations next Wednesday, but county officials stress there will be no actual emergency.
Atchison County will conduct a full-scale hazardous materials exercise October 14, from 9:00 to 11:00 in the morning.
Exercise activity will take place around Gasoline Alley, the Atchison County Health Department and Amberwell Hospital.
Multiple emergency response agencies and healthcare partners will participate. The exercise will evaluate coordination, communications, hazardous materials response, patient care, public information and incident command.
Residents may notice an increased presence of emergency vehicles and first responders during the two-hour exercise.
County officials say the training will help local agencies prepare for real-world emergencies.
