According to a notice shared by the office, the credit may be available when registering a newly purchased vehicle, whether new or used. It cannot be combined with a trade-in credit already provided by a dealership.
To receive the credit through the treasurer’s office, residents need copies of the bill of sale, registration, and both the front and back of the title for the vehicle they sold.
Those who have already registered their replacement vehicle may request a sales tax refund from the Kansas Department of Revenue using form ST-21VT. The form is available online and lists the documents required.
