(KAIR)--A reported disturbance involving a U.S. Postal Service mail carrier is under investigation by the Atchison County Sheriff's Office.

According to Sheriff Jack Laurie, deputies responded to the 8000 block of Clay Street Wednesday evening around 5:45, after a 27-year-old Atchison man reported being sprayed with pepper spray used as a dog repellent.

The man told deputies the mail carrier had sprayed him before leaving the area.

Laurie says the suspect has been identified, and the investigation is continuing.
