(KAIR)--Two Atchison men were arrested Thursday in separate incidents, including one involving a felony warrant for a sex crime against a child.
According to Atchison Police Chief Mike Wilson, 33-year-old Michael D. Lunsford was arrested Thursday afternoon around 5:30 in the 100 block of South 8th Street on a District Court warrant for aggravated indecent liberties with a child.
Wilson says the arrest stems from an August 2025 investigation involving the alleged unlawful touching of a child under the age of 14, who was known to the suspect, at an Atchison residence.
Lunsford was taken to the Atchison County Jail, with bond set at $500,000.
In a separate incident, 64-year-old Jimmy D. Bush was arrested Thursday night around 10:00, following a traffic stop in the 300 block of North 2nd Street.
Wilson says an officer stopped Bush's pickup for a traffic violation and took him into custody for suspected driving under the influence. Police subsequently reported finding controlled substances.
Bush was arrested on allegations of DUI, transporting an open container, and possession of cocaine, fentanyl and drug paraphernalia.
Once in custody, he was booked into the Atchison County Jail.
