Last week Commissioners approved a contract with Fuxa Enterprises to haul road rock from the Whetrock Quarry in Murray, Nebraska, to the Dawson area where a stockpile of rock would be created.
Fuxa requested the original bid for hauling at a rate of $9.93 per ton, be revised to $12,62 per ton to reflect changing conditions and the delayed project schedule.
Whetrock Quarry has a lack of available rock. The original contract would have cost the county nearly $74,500 in hauling fees.
The cost will be $9.93 per ton which would amount to a total of nearly $74,500 in hauling fees for 75 tons of rock. The added cost will bring the hauling fee up to $94,650, an increase of $20,175.
Highway Superintendent Steve Darveau Jr. presented a recommendation to reclassify 642 Boulevard between 705 Road and 703 Trail to a minimum maintenance road. The area is located southwest of Salem.
The Board will consider the report during their October 28th meeting whether to proceed with the change.
