(KNZA)--Highland Community College is remembering two men whose service helped shape the college and the communities it serves.
College President Dr. Vincent Bowhay says Mark Rounds and Dan Glynn shared a commitment to education and expanding opportunities for others.
Glynn died October first at age 78, and Rounds died October eighth at age 68.
Rounds served on Highland's Board of Trustees and advocated for the college and its students at the state and federal levels. Bowhay described him as a dedicated public servant, a champion for Northeast Kansas, and a close friend and mentor.
Glynn spent 37 years with Highland, including 29 years as a full-time instructor. He taught English, literature, communications, journalism and other courses, including evening classes at 15 locations throughout the college's service area.
He also chaired the English and Communication Department, served twice as faculty association president, and helped support student writing through the Reese Scholarship.
Bowhay says both men left lasting legacies, with Rounds championing the college's mission and Glynn bringing that mission to life in classrooms across Northeast Kansas.
He says Highland and its surrounding communities are stronger because of their service.
