(KAIR)--An ongoing investigation into criminal activity in Brown County led to the Saturday morning arrest of a 45-year-old Iowa man.
The apprehension of Joseph Roth, of Orange City, Iowa, came about an hour after Brown County Sheriff John Merchant issued a release asking for the public's assistance in locating Roth, who was identified as a suspect in recent criminal activity in the county.
In that earlier release, Merchant said authorities had reason to believe Roth was no longer in the Horton area.
A follow-up release from Merchant, issued shortly after 11:00 Saturday morning, said a Brown County deputy located and arrested Roth around 10:20, near 140th Road and U.S. Highway 75, in the Powhattan area of Brown County.
Merchant credited assistance from the Atchison, Horton, Hiawatha and Highland Police Departments, the Kansas Highway Patrol, sheriff's offices in Jackson, Nemaha and Doniphan counties, Sac and Fox Police, and Kansas Wildlife and Parks.
Merchant, in Saturday morning's final release, called the investigation "ongoing," with "more details" to "be released at a later date."
