(KLZA)-- Richardson County Commissioners reviewed with Emergency Management Agency Director Brian Kirkendall, action that will be taken by the Nebraska Public Power District's Cooper Nuclear Station at Brownville in the coming months in regards to the emergency siren located in the Village of Shubert.
The siren will no longer be used by NPPD when their warning system change is complete and the siren will be removed from the Village.
The siren has been utilized as an emergency weather siren with Richardson County Emergence Management providing weather alert radios to the village for distribution to residents within the village.
It was also mentioned that NPPD should have also distributed an emergency radio to residents within a 10-mi radius of the Cooper Nuclear Plant.
The County will review the matter and contact NPPD to inquire about the emergency siren and the possibility of transferring to another public entity.
