Stolen casino money located, arrests made, in Missouri

(KAIR)--A central Missouri traffic stop Sunday led to the recovery of more than $151,000 reportedly stolen from a St. Joseph casino.

According to a report from KQ2-TV, the Missouri State Highway Patrol and Macon County Sheriff's Office were notified of a theft at St. Jo Frontier Casino Sunday morning around 10:30.

Authorities were advised that a vehicle involved in the theft was eastbound on U.S. Highway 36.

About 25 minutes later, Macon County deputies located the vehicle west of Highway 63 and conducted a felony traffic stop with assistance from the Highway Patrol.

A man and woman were taken into custody, and a subsequent search of the vehicle, authorized by a warrant, led to the recovery of more than $151,000.

The TV-station reports the money was seized and held at a local bank pending pickup by troopers from St. Joseph.

Both suspects have been charged with felony stealing in St. Joseph and are awaiting extradition to the custody of Buchanan County.
