(KNZA)--The City of Horton has been awarded a $300,000 grant through the Kansas Small Cities Community Development Block Grant program to help rehabilitate about 25 homes.

Mayor Bryan Stirton announced the award during the October 19th city commission meeting. The city will provide an additional nearly $5,300 in local funding.

Commissioners also approved advertising for a part-time or contract information technology support position.

In addition, the commission approved an ordinance on second reading, amending the city's zoning regulations to reduce minimum floor-area requirements for single-family and two-family homes, allowing for smaller housing options.
