Voters in Jeff West school district to face bond issue again

(KAIR)--Voters in Jefferson West USD 340, on November 3, will decide the fate of a seven-point-five-million-dollar bond issue for facility improvements. It’s the district’s third bond proposal, after voters rejected measures in 2024 and again in March.

The latest proposal is scaled back from the 17-point-five-million-dollar plan rejected in March, with input from a community group.

The bond would fund improvements to five district buildings, including security upgrades, electrical repairs, and updated heating and cooling systems. Parts of the district’s preschool building date back to 1966.

If approved, the bond would be repaid over ten years, increasing the mill levy by an estimated 12 mills. The owner of a 200-thousand-dollar home would pay about 20 dollars more per month.

District officials say some improvements could begin as early as next spring if voters approve the proposal.
