(KLZA)--Richardson County Commissioners have scheduled a public hearing for Wednesday, Nov. 18 beginning at 9:15 a.m., to hear from those interested to appear and speak for or against the reclassification of county road 642 Boulevard between 705 and 703 Road, located southwest of Salem for the purpose of changing the road to a minimum maintenance road.
If the reclassification is approved, the County Road Department will reduce regular maintenance on this segment of road and will no longer provide regular blading, snow removal or standard surface upgrades.
During the Boards October 28th meeting, Commissioner John Caverzagie reported he has received correspondence from the Nebraska Department of Transportation regarding a letter from the County Board regarding Highway 8, Salem and Falls City bridge projects.
The Nebraska DOT replied that they are willing to discuss options with Richardson County regarding county road maintenance on the local road known as Pony Creek Road, from Salem to Falls City while the bridge construction projects on Highway 8 cause for the highway to be closed, causing a significant increase in traffic on Pony Creek Road.
The next meeting of the Richardson County Board of Commissioners will be Tuesday, Nov. 10 due to November 11 being Veterans Day.
