(KNZA)--A former Oskaloosa paraeducator charged in the alleged abuse of a five-year-old nonverbal autistic child has been sentenced to probation.
According to court documents, 26-year-old Breah Dame of Winchester was sentenced last week in Jefferson County District Court to 24 months in jail. The jail sentence was suspended, and she was placed on 18 months of supervised probation.
As part of her probation, she must continue counseling, complete an anger management course and perform 150 hours of community service.
Dame pleaded guilty in September to misdemeanor charges of child endangerment and two counts of battery.
She was originally charged with felony child abuse. Dame was employed as a paraprofessional at Oskaloosa Elementary School but was terminated November 7th, 2025, the same day the alleged abuse was reported.
She was charged in January following an investigation by the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department.
