Doniphan County Approves trash hauling proposal

(KNZA)--The Doniphan County Commission has approved a proposal from Waste Connections to haul refuse from the county transfer station to a site in Iowa beginning January first.

Miller Trash Service representatives Mike and Cody Miller presented the proposal during Monday's commission meeting.

The five-year agreement includes fuel-based rates of 64, 67 or 70 dollars per ton, depending on fuel prices, with a minimum 23-ton load. The proposal includes a four-percent annual price increase.

Republic Services previously submitted a proposal of 95 dollars per ton, while Miller Trash Service received no response from Z Force.

Cody Miller said the gate fee for Doniphan County residents will remain between 25 and 74 dollars per ton.

Commissioners unanimously approved the Waste Connections proposal, pending review and acceptance of a contract.
