(KAIR)--Atchison County is on track to have what could be its first all-female County Commission, following Tuesday's general election, with updated vote totals now including ballots from all 19 precincts.
The Atchison County Clerk's Office released updated unofficial results Thursday, including additional mail-in ballots received since Election Day.
In the race for the First District County Commission seat, Republican Katherine Kohler received 788 votes, compared with 560 for Democrat Charles Perdue.
In the Second District, Republican Randell Vanderweide received 1,292 votes, compared with 679 for Democrat John Settich.
If the results are confirmed through the official canvass, Kohler and Vanderweide will join fellow Republican Casey Quinn, who represents the Third District, giving Atchison County an all-female commission.
Quinn, in a social media post, congratulated Kohler and Vanderweide, saying she looks forward to serving alongside the two women.
Quinn expressed confidence that the three commissioners will be able to disagree professionally, share perspectives effectively and have difficult conversations respectfully.
She concluded her post by saying, "Cheers to making history ladies and continuing to lead Atchison County in a positive direction."

According to county records, the last time women held a majority of seats on the commission was in 1995; and, available records indicate an all-female commission would be a first for Atchison County.
The updated results remain unofficial until the election canvass, scheduled for Monday afternoon, November 9, at 1:00, in the Atchison County Commission room.
