Missouri Western Students to see Tuition Increase
ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (AP) — Most students at Missouri Western State University will pay $6.48 more per credit hour next semester.
The university's governing board approved the increase Wednesday.
The St. Joseph News-Press reports students who paid $6,040 for 30 hours last school year would pay about $194 more next year. The increase is expected to raise about $850,000 annually for the university in St. Joseph.
Western officials say state appropriation cuts in recent years caused more than $3 million in revenue losses. They also said higher insurance and retirement costs, and software and hardware maintenance contracts prompted the increase.
Non-resident undergraduates will pay $391 per credit hour. Resident graduate students will pay $304, and non-resident graduate students will be charged $562 per credit hour. The cost of online courses also will increase.
