Highland College Students Honor Retired Teacher
As part of their studies and increased awareness of predecessors in the profession, Highland Community College students in the Education Club decide to honor the work, both past and present, of local retired educator Marian Thompson. To that end, the Education students met with Thompson, heard about her teaching experience, and let her know that they are helping her with her current passion – the Highland Food Pantry. Thompson is a beloved retired teacher/educator and is currently a tireless volunteer for the Highland community. To recognize and honor her community efforts, the Club is asking for donations for the Highland Food Pantry through February 21. The Education Club has boxes placed throughout the College and community for donations. Those wishing to honor Thompson, but not able to make a donation to these boxes are encouraged to send Thompson a card and monetary donation for the Food Pantry in care of the HCC Education Club, 606 W. Main, Highland, KS 66035.
