John Edward Davis, 88, of Holton, KS, passed away Sunday, November 16, 2025 at the VA Medical Center in Topeka, KS. He was born August 30, 1937 on the southeast section of Banner Township west of Holton, KS, the son of Frank L. and Josephine M. (McColgin) Davis.
He graduated from Holton High School in 1955. He proudly served in the United States Army at Fort Lewis, WA. John worked in many departments for the Jackson Farmers CO-OP for 33 years and was a lifelong farmer.
He was a member of American Legion Post 44 and 20-year member of Banner Grange.
John married Rozella M. Bonjour-Shaw on February 4, 1968 in Holton, KS. She preceded him in death on September 29, 2009, after 41 years of marriage. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Josephine Davis; son, Felix Berton Shaw; 2 sisters, Emily Jane Stoll and Marianne McClintock and a brother, James Davis.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Roxanna Shaw and Sherrie Shaw both of Holton, KS; sister, Harriet Patton of Colorado Springs, CO; 3 grandchildren, Ginger Binkley (Scott), Robert Shaw (Sherrie) and Nicole Kinsley (Ryan); 4 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Friday, November 21, 2025 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Graveside Service with Military Honors will follow at 12:30 p.m. at the Holton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the American Legion Post 44 c/o Mercer Funeral Home, P.O.
