Paul Joseph Heinen, 84, of Valley Falls, KS, died Friday, January 2, 2026 at the Holton Community Hospital. Paul was born October 14, 1941, at Topeka, KS, the son of Anthony John and Dorothy Elizabeth Herbers Heinen. He was a 1959 graduate of Valley Falls High School. After High School, he served six years in the U.S. Army Reserves, serving from 1960 to 1966 and after being honorably discharged. Paul took over Uncle Lambert Heinen’s milk route that delivered to the condensery in Valley Falls. Next he worked at Good Year Tire Company warehouse in Topeka until he was injured. During his recuperation, he studied Accounting through a correspondence course before being employed at Mize, Houser, Melinger & Kimes CPAs located in the 1st National Bank in Topeka. He opened Paul Heinen and Associates, Accounting and Tax Service in Valley Falls in 1969 serving in the Valley Falls Community for 56 years until his retirement in 2025.
Paul was an active member of St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Council 6671 of the Church. He was a 50 year member of Valley Falls Lion’s Club and Valley Falls Chamber of Commerce. He was a lifetime member of the Public Accountants Association of Kansas, holding various titles including President in 1999. He was a co-coordinator of the annual Valley Falls Christmas lights and July 4th Fireworks for the community. Paul served 41 years as Jefferson County 4-H Livestock sales clerk from 1979 to 2020.
Paul married “Dianne” Logsdon on January 20, 1962 at Valley Falls, she survives at home. He is also survived by three sons, Scott Heinen, Valley Falls; Jim (Kenesa) Heinen, Olathe, KS; and Chris (Angie) Heinen, Valley Falls; one daughter, Leslee (Ken) Bowers, Denison, KS; eight brothers, Gene (Karen) Heinen, Meriden, KS; Ed (Sue) Heinen, Lawrence, KS; Joe (Linda) Heinen; Dan (Marietta) Heinen; Larry (Joyce) Heinen; Jerry (Karen) Heinen; Bill (Diane) Heinen; and Bob (Carla) Heinen; one sister, Mary Herring, all of Valley Falls, KS; 10 grandchildren, Jason, Steve, Trevor, Stephanie, Katie, Trint, Vanessa, Lea, Darah, and Ava; and 13 great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Alucard, Zyriya, Hunter, Charlie, Ethan, Keaton, Wyatt, Kendrix, Heath, Walter, Breckin, and Shane. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Charles Heinen, a brother, John Heinen, and an infant granddaughter, Staci Heinen.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM Saturday, January 17, 2026 at St. Mary’s-Immaculate Conception Church . Rosary recitation will be 5:30 PM, Friday January 16, 2026 at the Church with Visitation 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Inurnment at St. Mary’s Cemetery will be at a later date.
