Mike “Doc” Speece, age 78 of Auburn, passed away Thursday, January 15, 2026, at Bryan Medical Center West Campus in Lincoln.

Survivors include his daughters Heidi and Gretchen; grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law Linda and Dr. Bernie Hillyer; other relatives and many friends he cherished as family.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, January 31, 2026, 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Arbor Manor Steakhouse in Auburn. Burial of ashes will take place at a later date in Sheridan Cemetery at Auburn.

Memorials are suggested to Nemaha County 4-H or Auburn Fire Department and Rescue Squad.

Services are entrusted to Hemmingsen Funeral Home of Auburn.
