Lyle Pi-y-at-sa Joseph Nioce, 75, of the Kickapoo reservation passed away on Wednesday, February 18, 2026 at the Apostolic Christian Home in Sabetha, KS surrounded by his loved ones.
Lyle was born on October 6,1950 in Holton, KS to Edgar and Patricia Kahbeah Nioce. Lyle graduated from Atchison High School in 1969. Lyle married Barbara "Bonnie" Cash on June 1, 1971 in Atchison, KS. Lyle had many passions including classic cars, circle dirt truck racing and supporting his grandson's activities. Lyle retired from Hammersmith's MFG in Horton, KS after 42 years. Lyle was a member of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation.
Survivors include his wife Barbara "Bonnie" of the home. Two daughters, Tricia Nioce, Horton, KS and Amanda Nioce of Topeka, KS. Brother, Marvin (Becky) Nioce of Topeka, KS. Sister, Peggy Houston, Horton, KS and two grandsons, Dalton Nioce of Horton, KS and Kinser Nioce-Barbosa. Along with several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Visitation will be at Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, KS on Saturday, February 21, 2026 from 6 to 8 PM. Graveside at 10 AM on Sunday, February 22, 2026 at Kahbeah Church Cemetery on the Kickapoo Reservation. Following services there will be a Luncheon at the Kickapoo Community Building.
