Carolyn Marie Spangler, 84, passed away at New Mark Care Center in Nashua, Mo., on the afternoon of Tuesday, March 31, 2026.
She was born in Iowa Point, KS on February 10, 1942, the daughter of Max and Hazel (Browning) Tilton. She was a 1960 graduate of Everest Highschool and afterward completed her associate's degree at Highland Community College.
She worked at Blair Milling Company in Atchison, KS, from 1972 until she moved to Kansas City, MO, in 1977. She then worked for Puritan Bennett Corporation as a secretary and fleet administrator until 1995 and then at New Directions Behavioral Health until her retirement in 2014. She had been a resident of New Mark Care Center since 2020.
Carolyn loved music and reading - especially romance novels. She was very devoted to her family and especially her grandchildren. She was able to meet her new baby great-granddaughter, Lenny Marie Salyer, before she passed.
Carolyn is survived by her daughter, Lisa (Bob) Burns of Lathrop, MO, and son, Scott (Malinda) Spangler of De Soto, KS, six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by both parents and her brother, Larry R. Tilton.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, April 6, 2026, at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas where the family will greet friends from 10:00 A.M. until service time at the mortuary. Burial will follow at the Miller Cemetery east of Everest, Kansas.
