Imogene Reid (Williamson) Gridley-Frank, 99, of Humboldt, Nebraska was born on August 9, 1926, in Humboldt Nebraska to Clement L. “Shorty” and Ona B. (Reid) Williamson. Imogene attended school in Humboldt through the 5th grade, then moved to Norfolk and various other towns for 4-5 years, then returned to Humboldt where she graduated in 1945.
Imogene married Robert Gridley in January of 1946 and together they had 3 sons, Dennis, Scott, and Gary. Imogene and Bob attended every game of their 3 sons whether it was football, basketball, baseball or any other sport they played. Imogene was always very vocal and loud cheering her boys at their sporting events. After a tragic accident in August of 1971 resulting in Bob’s death, Imogene married Leland Frank of Pawnee City in 1973. In marrying Lee, she gained 2 stepsons, Gary and Terry Frank. The couple enjoyed taking their RV south each winter for 13 years. They met many interesting people and made many friends along the way. Lee passed away in December of 2020.
Imogene was president of the Women's Legion Auxiliary for two years, secretary for one year, and served as chaplain. She enjoyed working with the Auxiliary and cooking food for many events and fund raisers. Imogene sold Avon, worked at McDonald's clothing store for 5 years, followed by 24 years at Cooper Mills where she retired in 1987. She was originally a member of the Methodist Church and later joined the Faith Lutheran Church. Imogene always had a garden and canned peaches, green beans, tomatoes and other vegetables each year. She enjoyed playing cards, going to coffee 3 days a week, playing Yahtzee and spending time with her family. Of course, Imogene was a huge Husker fan and looked forward to their games throughout the year.
Imogene passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2026, at her home in Humboldt, Nebraska having reached the earthly age of ninety-nine years, seven months, and twenty days. She is preceded in death by her parents, husbands Robert Gridley and Leland Frank, her sister Marie Hespen, great-grandson Kasey Colvin, niece Marsha Morris, and daughter-in-law Gail Gridley.
Imogene is survived by her sons: Dennis Gridley of Elizabeth, CO; Scott Gridley and wife Theresa of Elizabeth, CO; Gary Gridley and wife Sandi of Lincoln, NE; stepsons: Gary Frank and wife Cheryl of Waverly, NE; Terry Frank and wife Brenda of Pawnee City, NE; 8 grandchildren: Dan Gridley and wife Jennifer of Paradise Valley, AZ; Shandi (Gridley) Peltz and husband Mike of Phoenix, AZ; Angelyn Guenther and husband Jason of Humboldt, NE; Heather Duryea and husband Dan of Humboldt, NE; Devin Gridley and wife Jackie of Elizabeth, CO; Nicolle Colvin of Aurora, CO; Lisa Peterson of Lincoln, NE; Brandon Frank of Waverly, NE; Celeste Rodriguez and husband Dave of Arkville,, MO; 20 great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, and many other relatives, and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Faith Lutheran Church in Humboldt, Nebraska with Pastor Tim Llewellyn officiating. Interment will follow services at the Humboldt Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. on Friday, April 10, 2026, at the Wherry Mortuary, 207 Nemaha Street in Humboldt.
