John Ross Koch, 43, of Horton, Kansas, formerly of Sabetha, Kansas passed away suddenly on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at the Amberwell Hospital in Hiawatha, Kansas.
He was born on June 1, 1982, in Mount Pleasant, Iowa the son of Ronnie Koch and Darla Dedic. John grew up in Sabetha and graduated from Bern High School in 2000. After high school he attended Southeast Community College in Milford, Nebraska. John worked as a gaming commissioner for the Sac-N-Fox Nation. John was a foster parent, godfather, a big Iowa Hawkey Fan and enjoyed working, playing video games, cooking in his spare time, pestering his wife and playing nerf wars with is nieces and nephews. On September 15, 2018, he married Amber Hawkins in Horton, Kansas.
Survivors include his wife, Amber Koch of the home, Horton, Ks., father, Ronnie Koch of Sabetha, Kansas, mother, Darla Dedic of Wapello, Iowa, brother, Aaron (Emilea) Koch of Sabetha, Kansas, sister, Jade (Lee) Winkler of Corning, Kansas, numerous nieces and nephews, brother-in-law, Dennis (Sam) Hawkins of Horton, Kansas, sister-in-law, Tiffany (Donnie) Nigh of Everest, Kansas.
Graveside services will be at 11:30 A.M. on Friday, April 24, 2026, at the Muscotah Cemetery.
