Linda Kay Nonnast, 82, of Hiawatha, entered eternal rest on April 17th, 2026. She passed away at home surrounded by her family.
Linda was born on January 24,1944, in Ft. Smith Arkansas, to the late Marion Roy Madden and Emma Florence Madden. Graduating High School in 1962 and went on to earn her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from the University of Kansas Medical School. It was during her time nursing at K.U. that she began a life defined not only by care for others, but by a deep and abiding faith in Jesus Christ.
On May 8th, 1971, Linda married William Robert Nonnast. In 1977, they made their home in Hiawatha, Kansas, where they built a life centered on faith, family, and service. Together, Bill and Linda raised four children: William II, Paul, David and Leigh.
Linda loved the Lord with all her heart. Her life was a reflection of Christ’s love-evident in her kindness, her servants’ heart, and her unwavering devotion. She was actively involved in teaching and attending Sunday school and church, sharing her faith with others and encouraging those around her to walk closely with the Lord.
Above all, Linda cherished her family. She delighted in spending time with her children and grandchildren, loving them deeply and faithfully pointing them to Christ through her words and example.
She is survived by her devoted husband, William Robert Nonnast; her children: William Nonnast II of Tempe, Arizona; Paul (Kayla) Nonnast of Overland Park, Kansas; David (Jaclyn) Nonnast of Sabetha, Kansas; and Leigh (Mason) Long of Sabetha, Kansas; and five beloved grandchildren: Andrew, Noah, Reve”, Levi, and James. Linda is also survived by her siblings: Lena Margaret Glick; Norma Jean (Jerry) Hollingsworth; and Raymond (Caroline) Madden.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Leroy Madden and Clarence Richard Madden.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Chapel Oaks Funeral Home to be divided between Missionaries Dave and Jochy Lockard and Voice of The Martyrs, sent in care of Chapel Oaks FH, 124 S 7th St., 66434.
Visitation will be at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home (Hiawatha, KS) on Wednesday April 22, 2026 at 10am. Services will follow at 11am. Linda asked that everyone dress casual.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Tuesday.
