Anna Mae (Friedly) Davis of Pawnee City, Nebraska passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2026 at the age of 93 at Colonial Acres in Humboldt, Nebraska. Anna Mae was born in Pawnee City on January 1,1933 to Arthur and Hallye (Thiemann) Friedly.
Anna Mae attended North Star country school until 8th grade and graduated from Pawnee City High School in 1950. When we as kids would complain about walking to school in adverse weather she would look at us and say “we had to walk up hill and down both ways in waist high snow”.
On May 23, 1953 Anna Mae married Jim Rhodes in Pawnee City, Nebraska. To this union 5 children were born Jeff, Kim, Randy, Scott and Deb. In 1982 Jim and Anna Mae divorced and in September 1984 Anna Mae married Elton Davis.
Anna Mae worked for various doctors at the Pawnee Clinic for 25 years. She loved the people she worked with and the patients she came to know. She worked several years as Office Manager for the Community Action Center and then did in home Daycare for many years.
Anna Mae was involved with the 4-H program for 50 years. Her love for the program and the youth gave her great joy. Mom always wanted the kids to remember, “you should learn much more from not winning, than from when you do win”.
Anna Mae was preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Hallye Friedly, husband Elton Davis, daughter-in-law, Sonja Rhodes.
She is survived by her children, Jeff Rhodes, Kim (Dan) Harris, Randy (Cyndi) Rhodes, Scott Rhodes, and Deb (Mike) Wilcox, grandchildren Danielle (Trevor) Eisenbarth, Garrett (Dina) Harris, Janell (Diane) Waters, Lilly Rhodes, Delton (Katie) Rhodes, Rena Rhodes, Ethan (Juanita) Wilcox, Levi (Holli) Wilcox, Shelby (Reece) Wilcox, 19 great-grandchildren, brother Ferd (Carol) Friedly and sister Helen Mawhiney, along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
Memorial service 10:00. Tuesday, April 21, 2026 at Salem U.C.C. Church, Steinauer, Nebraska with Pastor Mike Rowe Officiating. Visitation on Monday, April 20, 2026 from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., with family greeting friends from 6-8 p.m. at Wherry Mortuary, 919 G Street, Pawnee City, Nebraska .
