Delores Darlene Mahkuk (Gug-No-Quah), 71, passed away on Thursday, April 23, 2026, at KU Medical Center with family by her side.
Delores was born on February 20, 1955, in Holton, Kansas the daughter of Edison Mahkuk and Josephine Mzhickteno. She was a member of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Tribe and a member of the Native American Church. Delores enjoyed spending time with grandchildren, there is nothing she loved more. She would do anything for them. She enjoyed the outdoors, outings, reading, and watching the news on world events. Delores was a strong-willed and strong-minded woman who was extremely loyal to her family. Delores grew up in Jackson County and graduated high school from Royal Valley and Kaw Area Tech. She spent her life in Manhattan Kansas and Horton Kansas. Delores worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse taking care of others in area nursing homes. She will be deeply missed and was loved immensely. Delores was a treasure to her family.
Delores was preceded in death by her daughter, Stella Mahkuk, son, Joseph Holliman, brothers Johnny Pahmahmie and Tommy Pahmahmie, mother, Josephine Mzhickteno, father, Edison Mahkuk, nephew, Matthew Pahmahmie, niece, Amber Pahmahmie.
Survivors include a daughter Jamie (Richard Sr.) Holliman-McKinney, sisters, Debra Mahkuk and Mary Lou Jessepe, brothers, Albert Mahkuk, George (Mary) Mahkuk. Grandchildren, Marcel Jessepe, Carly Jessepe, Zorah Jessepe, Noam Jessepe, Serena (Mason) Fawcett, Evan Whiteshield, Aleck Whiteshield, Robert “RJ” Whiteshield, and Wahboxiekwah McKinney. Great grandson, Drew Fawcett. Numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.
Services will be on Monday April 27, 2026, at 6:00 pm at Wayne Jessepe’s house highway K-20 on the Kickapoo reservation. Burial will be on Tuesday at the Old Dance Ground Cemetery in Mayetta, Kansas.
