Max Shafer, III, 66, of Shubert, NE, passed away April 26, 2026 at Lincoln, NE. He was born May 27, 1959 at Falls City to Max W. Shafer, II and Carole “Joanne” (Vice) Shafer

He married Jenny Massey on September 4, 1990 at Shubert. She passed away January 31, 2021

Max was raised at Shubert and graduated from Southeast Consolidated High School in 1977. Following graduation he attended community college. He then started working as a security guard at Cooper Nuclear Station and then became a guard at the Tecumseh State Prison. He retired in 2016 as a sergeant. He enjoyed being outdoors on the farm and being around his animals. He loved his family and Jesus more than anything. In his younger days he enjoyed powerlifting. He was a member of Shubert Christian Church.

Max is survived by his son, Max Shafer, IV of Shubert, step-son, Jeff Kosmicki and his wife Tyeisha of Omaha, NE and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sister, Penny and a daughter, Treia.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, May 11, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Prairie Union Cemetery near Shubert with Pastor Pamela Fullbright officiating.
