Ronald Ray “Ron” Snyder, 83, of Hiawatha, passed away at his home on Thursday, April 30, 2026.
Ron was born on December 11, 1942, in Sabetha, to Robert “Bob” and Minnie (McKinnie) Snyder. He was raised in Sabetha and Morrill, and attended school in Morrill and Hamlin.
On December 29, 1963, Ron was united in marriage to Karen (Young) Snyder. They enjoyed 62 years of marriage. To this union, two daughters were born, Rhonda DeAnn and Stacey Jo.
Ron was an avid hunter and blue rock shooter, earning countless trophies and awards throughout the years. He enjoyed watching all sports, especially NASCAR races. His wife often teased that he should have been a NASCAR driver himself, given the way he handled the curves. Above all, Ron cherished his family and loved spending time with them, including many hours spent target shooting in the backyard.
He worked at several places throughout his life, spending much of his career at Flair Fold and White Cloud Casino.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Minnie Snyder; and his brother, Teddy “Ted” Snyder.
He is survived by his loving wife, Karen Snyder of the home; his brother, Bruce (Cindy) Snyder of Sabetha, Kansas; his daughters, Rhonda (Mike) Mauslein of Kearney, Nebraska and Stacey (Mike) Martinez of Hiawatha, Kansas; six grandchildren, Casie (Paco) Ramirez of Hiawatha, Kansas Michael Mauslein of Kearney, Nebraska, Tobey Barnhart Jr. of Wichita, Kansas Nathan (Holly) Mauslein of Stillwater, Oklahoma Kaliegh (Aaron) Collins of Hesston, Kansas and Kaitlyn (Jeremy) Armstrong of Hiawatha, Kansas; as well as ten great-grandchildren: Landyn, Dalson, T.J., Maddy, Ellie, Abby, Brooke, Waylon, Emmy, and Eliza.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 5, 2026, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home where friends may call at 10 a.m. Tuesday.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hiawatha. Ron Stair of First Christian Church will officiate. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to the First Christian Church sent in care of the funeral home, 124 S 7th Street, Hiawatha 66434.
