Lucille Mae Brown, 92, of Muscotah, Kansas, passed away on Saturday May 2, 2026. She was born on May 2, 1934, in Horton, Kansas the daughter of Otho Clifton Small and Mary Izetta (Sleppy)Small. She was a 1952 graduate of Atchison County Community High School. Lucille was a member of the Muscotah United Church.
On October 12, 1952, she married William (Bill) E. Brown at the Muscotah United Church. Lucille was a homemaker until all of her children left the home. She then decided to work as a cook at the Maple Heights Nursing home in Hiawatha for 13 years. Once she retired from working, her and Bill traveled to Texas in the winters for over 20 years, enjoying life and making lots of friends. She was an avid Royals and Chiefs fan and enjoyed watching all the games. She was a passionate reader and always ready for the next good book. She was kind, loving and accepting to everyone.
Survivors include her husband Bill Brown of Muscotah, Kansas; two sons Rick (Sandi) Brown of Cummings, KS; Mike (Tammy) Brown of Cummings, KS; and daughter Tina (Tom) Wolff of Overland Park, KS. 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, son James Edward Brown, four sisters, Ruth Anna Speer, Janet Christie, Shirley Swendson and Marilyn Oaks.
A visitation will be held from 10-11 am followed by funeral services at 11 am on Friday, May 8, 2026, at the Muscotah United Church. Burial will be at the Muscotah Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Muscotah United Church and may be sent in care of the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary.
