Roxanna (Roxie) Leigh Weekley Herring, 62, of Valley Falls, Kansas passed away surrounded by her family on May 3, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Roxie was born in Topeka, Kansas on April 8, 1964, the daughter of Edman (Ed) Jr. and Dolores McCarter Weekley. She grew up in Carbondale graduating from Santa Fe Trail High School. She was employed by Acosta Sales and Marketing for the previous 10 years.
In 2012, Roxie met the love of her life and beloved husband, Pat Herring. They were married on May 23, 2017 and were embraced by the Valley Falls community where they actively participated in the lives of neighbors, friends and local organizations. They viewed their community as family.
Roxie discovered her passion for sewing, embroidery and quilting at a young age. She could transform remnants of material into beautiful masterpieces. Her work was characterized by intricate hand-quilting, vibrant colors and embroidery often designing farm and tractor scenes that told stories of their life and community. She made many quilts for the annual Bloomfield Church quilt raffle to help support church maintenance. Over her lifetime, Roxie gifted many quilts and embroidery creations to friends, family and charities ensuring her love will be felt for generations to come.
Roxie was an active member of the Meriden Antique Engine and Threshers Association. Her participation included making hundreds of her famous cinnamon rolls for the Chuckwagon during the threshing shows and the Jefferson County 4H Fair.
Her interests also included spending time and sharing her talents at the Sewcial Club and Sew Fine Quilting in Valley Falls.
Survivors include her husband Pat; parents Ed and Dolores Weekley Jr.; mother-in-law Mary Herring; sons Justin (Katie) Barton, Weston (Cammie) Barton and Holden (Sadie) Barton; grandchildren Madelyn, Ziven, Ryan, Archer, Henlie, Millie and bonus grandchildren Leonia and Derek; brothers Rusty (Marcy) Weekley, Randy (Tara) Weekley and Ryan (Doreen) Weekley; brothers-in-law Tim (Becky) Herring, Rodney (Lori Grollmes) Herring, Kent (Alisa) Herring and sister- in-law Dorthy Herring. She was preceded in death by father-in-law Lee Herring.
The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at Jefferson County Hospice for their care, compassion and support during Roxie’s battle with cancer.
Inurnment will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 9, 2026 at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Valley Falls, KS. Memorial Celebration of Life gathering will be 3-6 p.m. Saturday, May 9, at the Jefferson County 4H Building, Valley Falls, KS.
