Steven "Steve" Jenkins, 63, of Highland, Kansas, passed away Thursday, April 30, 2026.
Steve was born June 23, 1962, in Hiawatha, Kansas, to Paul and Doris Jenkins. He made his living as a truck driver and farmhand — work that suited his hardworking, country spirit perfectly.
Those who knew Steve knew he had a zest for life that was hard to match. Whether he was fishing, hunting mushrooms, cruising back roads, working hay season, or finding the nearest mud hole with four wheels under him — Steve was all in. He could climb into any piece of farm equipment and make it sing.
But more than anything, Steve lived for the people around him. Time with family and friends wasn't just something he enjoyed — it was everything to him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, John Paul Jenkins; and his siblings, Melvin, Kenny, and Frankie Joe Jenkins.
He is survived by his daughter Dorissa Jenkins and son-in-law Elijah Simpson; stepchildren Ramona, Brenda, and Carl Anderson; his brother Roger Jenkins; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, May 8th, 2026, from 3:00 to 6:30 p.m. at the Troy Community Center in Troy, Kansas. All are welcome.
