Peggy Sue Oliver, 67, of Shubert, Nebraska was born on February 25, 1959, in Humboldt, Nebraska to Glen Dale and Lorene Rosella (Fritz) Oliver. She was raised with her 9 brothers and sisters in Shubert where she received her schooling and graduated from Southeast Consolidated High School with the class of 1977. Peggy lived in Shubert for most of her life and was a member of the Shubert Christian Church.
Peg lived a life rooted in love, service, and connection. Throughout the years, she worked in many places, each one reflecting her strong work ethic and the joy she found in staying busy. Her journey included time at Big Fred’s Pizza in Omaha, BSDC, Sewing Factory, Armstrong Cabinet Factory, and Dollar General. Of all her roles, her time at Indian Cave State Park was especially meaningful to her—it was truly her favorite.
Peg also gave back to her community in countless ways. She served on the Shubert town board as well as the local library board, always willing to lend her time and voice to help make her town a better place.
More than anything, Peg’s life revolved around her family and friends. They were everything to her. She cherished time spent sitting outside on her front porch, gently rocking in her chair, visiting and sharing stories with those she loved. She had a special gift for making everyone feel at home. Though she may not have had children of her own, Peg was a mother to so many. Her nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews were her “kids,” and she loved each of them deeply. She filled their lives with warmth, laughter, and the simple joys of singing old nursery rhymes—memories that will be treasured forever.
Peg also found comfort in the quiet moments, especially reading her favorite romance novels. But above all, she was known for her generous and compassionate heart. She loved fully and selflessly, always willing to help anyone in need—even when it wasn’t easy, and even when she shouldn’t have. That was simply who she was.
She often reminded us, “It is what it is,” a phrase that reflected her strength and acceptance of life’s challenges. She also shared a sentiment we can all carry forward: “I shouldn’t be complaining when there is someone else worse off than me.” Her humility and perspective were a guiding light to those around her. Peg’s love, kindness, and unwavering presence will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
Peggy passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at Bryan Medical Center West in Lincoln, Nebraska, having reached the earthly age of sixty-seven years, two months, seven days.
