Jan. 9th, 1948, JoAnne was born in Atchison, Ks, fourth child of William A. and Lois (Hale) Stevens. In 1966, JoAnne graduated from Atchison County Community High School. Having met the love of her life, Ronald F. Baker, she married him Nov. 26, 1966, and created their home. A home that would welcome all. Family, friends, over 40 foster children that she treated as her own.
JoAnne worked at Atchison Leather Products for more than 26 years, starting as a sewer, pattern maker then later becoming a floor supervisor. She was a former Carol Baptist Church member where she played the organ 50 years. JoAnne found great joy in hosting the monthly Stitching Group where she taught young and old her talents. JoAnne loved all nature taking pride in her flowers, garden and birds. Because of this, she loved her retirement job at “Birdies Backyard.” She was always cooking, helping and caring for those she loved. She will forever be remembered for her caring, generous heart!
