Terri Lee (Rebant) Recchia went to be with her Lord on May 15, 2026, at the age of 70. She was born on September 8, 1955, in Sacramento, CA to Ralph James (Jim) and Marjorie Lee (Horn) Rebant. After her mother’s death in 1959, she moved to Topeka, KS to live with her father and stepmother, Janet Louise (Lewis) Rebant. The family moved to Powhattan, KS in 1961, where Terri attended school. In 1969, the family moved to Horton, KS. Terri graduated from Horton High School in 1973. While in high school, Terri worked as a nurses’ aide at Horton Community Hospital.
After graduating from the LPN Program at Vo-Tech in Atchison, Terri worked at St. Francis Hospital in Topeka. In November of 1976, Terri married Richard E. Dreitzler. They adopted two girls, Susan and Amanda, in 1983. After Richard’s death in 1993, Terri completed her R.N. degree at Brown Mackie College and shortly thereafter moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, where she continued her work in the nursing field. On January 3, 2004, Terri married Aurelio Recchia, they later divorced. Terri moved in with her mother, Janet, in Horton in 2018. In 2023, she moved to the nursing home.
She was a bubbly, fun-loving, generous person who loved life, her family, her dogs, KU basketball, and Chiefs football. Terri loved to crochet, making many blankets for family. She loved her jewelry and could always be seen wearing lots of it! She loved the Hallmark channel, especially during the Christmas season, when she also loved to decorate.
Terri is preceded in death by her mother Marjorie, father, Jim, and husband, Richard. She is survived by her daughters, Susan and Amanda, five grandchildren, mom, Janet, of Horton, brothers Carl (Bette) Rebant, of Hiawatha, KS, Ralph (Debbie) Rebant, of Kansas City, John (Margaret) Rebant, of Sabetha, KS, sisters Tammy (Greg) Scott, Kathy (Richard) Lovelady, both of Horton, KS, and Karen (Keith) Stayton, of Plattsburg, MO, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
Family will greet friends at Dishon Maple-Chaney Mortuary from 10:00-11:00 am, Tuesday, May 19th, 2026, followed by a graveside service at the Horton Cemetery. You can honor Terri by wearing KU, Chiefs, or the color red.
