Angela Jo Dugger, “Angie” to most of those who knew her, passed away May 13, 2026. Angela was born in Atchison, Kansas, the daughter of William M. Dugger and Ronda (Walker) Dugger.
Angie was a proud graduate of Mount St. Scholastica Academy and then spent a few semesters at Kansas State University. Throughout the rest of her life, she dedicated herself to numerous roles across Atchison. From nursing, to waitressing, to cleaning and rehoming discarded items, she was driven by her desire to help and to serve the people around her. Even when she had almost nothing to her name, she still gave whatever she could to others who needed it. At Angie’s core, she cared deeply for others and did everything she was able to for her people. Her life was marked with the love, compassion, and kindness she gave to those around her.
When Angela wasn’t with her loved ones, she felt most at home when she was in her car—free to go wherever she wanted or parked by one of her favorite lakes and, of course, always with a Diet Coke in hand. She would spend hours outside listening to the birds sing their songs and watching the sun rise and fall. Her favorite moments were when she was able to watch a storm pass by so the wind and rain could help lull her to sleep.
Angie also found great joy in the forest. She loved spending hours searching all over Atchison for morel mushrooms with her well-loved walking stick. After years of searching, she found her first big bunch of more than 30 morels in 2026, a wonderful achievement of hers.
Angela’s proudest accomplishments and favorite part of her life were her two children, Celina Binkley and Elijah Ernzen, who survive her and will carry forward the love and goodness of her legacy. She is also mourned by her siblings, Marty Dugger, Steve Dugger, Bill Dugger Jr., Jeff Dugger, Melody Dugger, Renea Vice, Becky Dugger, Patti Collier, Jamie Morast, Jolene Smith, and Barb Butter, who will help ensure her warmth and kindness live on.
Angela was preceded in death by her parents; her grandmother, Mary Walker; her stepmother, Clarice Dugger; her brother, John Nunn; and her sister, Belinda Dugger Foust.
The community is invited to honor Angela’s life at a visitation on Friday, May 22, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., followed immediately by a Celebration of Life service from 1:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., with Rev. William Mitchell officiating. Both gatherings will take place at Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home, 208 North 5th Street, Atchison, Kansas 66002. Memorials may be left to Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home to assist with service expenses. A service livestream can be found under the obituary text at www.arensbergpruett.com.
