Richard A. Chapman, Jr., 50, of Atchison, Kansas, passed away May 14, 2026.
Per his wishes, Richard will be cremated, with a private family celebration of life to be held at a later date. Memorial contributions are suggested to help the family with final expenses and may be left in care of the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home.
Richard was born May 19, 1975, in Atchison, the son of Richard Arnold Chapman, Sr., and Towanda Jaunita (Goodpasture) Chapman. He attended Atchison County Community High School in Effingham.
Following his education, he worked as a mechanic. He began his career at Golden Star in August 1996 and devoted many years to his craft, earning a reputation for his ability to fix whatever was brought to him.
He enjoyed working with his hands and taking on projects that showcased his mechanical skills. He also enjoyed motorcycles, trips to Las Vegas, and time with his dogs. His grandchildren were especially important to him.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Ann Chapman; their sons, Chase Chapman and Joseph Chapman; three sisters, Ranee Linck, Sharon Jahnke, and Jeannie Ernzen; and numerous nieces and nephews. His legacy lives on through his seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Chapman, Sr., and Towanda Jaunita Chapman.
