Sharon Ann Collins, 84, of Highland, Kansas passed away on Monday, May 18, 2026, at the Maple Heights Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Hiawatha, Kansas peacefully surrounded by her family.
She was born on May 10, 1942, in White Cloud, Kansas the daughter of Edward “Bud” and Mary “Doodle” Taylor Watts. Sharon attended White Cloud Schools through her junior year before graduating from Highland High School in 1959. On December 16, 1960, she married Claude Franklin “Butch” Collins. She worked as an EMT for the Highland Ambulance Service and also enjoyed working as a cook and a bus driver for the Highland School system for many years before retiring. She enjoyed spending time and cooking for her family, babysitting her grandchildren and great grandchildren, camping with Butch and their friends, attending her children and grandchildren’s activities, going to garage sales and thrift stores and boy did she love a good old vanilla ice cream cone. Sharon was a member of the White Cloud Christian Church where she played the piano. Sharon also passed on her love for music to her children and grandchildren. She had a costume room, that many have used. She was known for her “dressing up” and enjoyed doing that every chance she got.
Survivors include her son, Kevin (Sandy) Collins of Hiawatha, Kansas, two daughters, Kim (Gregg) Dishon of Horton, Kansas and Kristie (Brian) Klaus of Troy, Kansas, brother, Jim (Jackie) Watts of Highland, Kansas, sister, Linda (Dick) Maris of White Cloud, Kansas, eight grandchildren, Tiffinie Sourk, Telisa Collins, Tristan Collins, Kayla Foley, Ashley Doramus, Trey Dishon, Wade Klaus and Whitlea Castillo, twenty three great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Butch, her parents, Bud and Doodle Watts, a brother, George Watts, a niece, Beth Zimmerman and good friend, sister-in-law, Frances Collins.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Highland, Kansas where the family will greet friends from 10:00 A.M. until service time at the funeral home. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 12:00 until 5:00 P.M. Burial will follow the service at the Highland Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the White Cloud Christian Church or the Highland Ambulance service fund and may be sent in care of the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas.
