William “Bill” J. Meister, 73, of Sabetha, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri.
Bill was born on June 1, 1952, in Sterling, Colorado, the son of William E. and Beverley (Hundley) Meister. He attended school in Sabetha and graduated with the class of 1970.
Bill was an over-the-road truck driver who drove for Koch Trucking and Keim TS, both of Sabetha, and Bennett Trucking of Seneca, Kansas. He later worked as a welder for Wenger Manufacturing and Argabright Welding, both of Sabetha. He enjoyed reading, his pets, watching KU basketball, fishing, and riding his motorcycles.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his nephew, Michael Gerber; and his great-nephew, Charles Meister.
Bill is survived by Jan Weber; his two sisters, Marcena (Lee) Gerber, and Denise (Charles) Debusk; his brother, Kim (Tammy) Meister; his two nephews, Adam Gerber and Shane Meister; his four nieces, Sidney Lang, Shawn Hulsing, Courtney Louiseau, and Sheyenne Farwell; and his 12 great-nieces and great-nephews; and one great-great-nephew.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 1, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. at the Popkess Mortuary in Sabetha, Kansas. Prior to the service, a visitation will be held at the mortuary from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Following the service, a light lunch will be served. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Mary Cotton Public Library and the Sabetha Community Food Pantry, both of Sabetha, sent in care of the Popkess Mortuary, 823 Virginia Street, Sabetha, Kansas 66534. Inurnment will be held at the Albany Cemetery, north of Sabetha, at a later date.
