Richard A. Chapman, Jr., 50, of Atchison, Kansas, passed away on May 14, 2026.
Per his wishes, cremation care has been provided by Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, May 30, 2026, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Lancaster School Building, 300 Kansas St., Lancaster, KS 66041.
Richard was born May 19, 1975, in Atchison, Kansas, the son of Richard Arnold Chapman, Sr., and Towanda Jaunita (Goodpasture) Chapman. He attended Atchison County Community High School in Effingham, Kansas.
Following his education, he found his true calling as a mechanic, a profession he embraced with passion and expertise. Beginning his career at Golden Star in August 1996, Richard devoted many years to his craft, earning a reputation as a talented mechanic with an extraordinary ability to fix anything brought his way.
Beyond his professional life, Richard was a man of varied interests and boundless enthusiasm. He loved working with his hands and was constantly engaged in projects that showcased his mechanical aptitude. His passion for motorcycles was well known among family and friends, embodying a spirit of adventure and freedom. Richard also cherished trips to Las Vegas and was a devoted dog lover. Most precious to him were his grandchildren, whose presence brought him immense happiness and pride.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Ann Chapman; sons Chase Chapman and Joseph Chapman; three sisters, Ranee Linck, Sharon Jahnke, and Jeannie Ernzen; seven grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Arnold Chapman, Sr., and Towanda Jaunita Chapman.
